Beatty Museum History

Several ladies who had been raised in Beatty, Nevada, played in Rhyolite, Nevada and roamed the hills of the Bullfrog Mining District, realized that a very important part of history was being lost. Over coffee at a local restaurant, they put together the Beatty Museum and Historical Society.

Talking all their friends into becoming members they opened their first museum in a small cottage in 1995. Through the generosity of the residents of Beatty, Nevada they soon outgrew the little cottage. It seemed that memories were being brought in from everywhere. They moved from the cottage to the old water building across the street. That worked well for another five years, but once again they outgrew the building.

Their next move was into a historical church, which currently houses the Beatty Museum, on the main street of Beatty, Nevada. The museum has expanded the building making room for a larger collection and a research room.

The society is a private non-profit organization with approximately 200 members in the United States and Europe.

Beatty Museum is a 501(c)3 corporation. All donations are tax deductible.
